NLL Training Camp: Knight Gets First NLL Experience

Curtis Knight was not the top draft pick in Edmonton this fall. However, he was still a first round pick, and the team is expecting a lot of him after the team’s training camp session.

“It was similar to what I expected.” Knight says. “I expected it to be intense and fast and that exactly what it was.”

Knight was the 8th overall pick in the NLL draft out of Whitby. After being the MVP of CLA Juniors in 2011, he scored 42 goals and 53 assists with the Whitby Warriors in 2012.

“I think i performed pretty well, there are definitely a few things I could work on and improve on but overall I think I did fine once I adjusted to the fast pace.” said Knight of his camp performance.

“My first training camp was fun and I had a good time.  It was a lot of hard work and high intensity but i had a good time playing box lacrosse again.  Everyone was working hard and guys are a lot faster and stronger in the NLL and it took a little to adjust to the pace.”

The Rush have two exhibition games, against Toronto and Calgary, and Knight thinks he is ready for game action.

“I am looking forward to the next training camp and our exhibition game against Toronto should be a good test.  I’m excited to continue to compete and work hard towards getting a spot on the Edmonton roster.”
