Rock and Knighthawks Battle in Montreal

Today the Toronto Rock and Rochester Knighthawks will take over the old stomping grounds of the ill-fated Montreal Express. For the second time, the NLL heads to Montreal for a pre season game where these two teams will play at Bell Centre. The Rock lost their pre season contest last week to the Calgary Roughnecks where they scored just five goals. Meanwhile, the Knighthawks also lost when the Minnesota Swarm…

2015 MLL Draft Prospects: Midfield

Last year, the midfield had the best player in college lacrosse in Princeton’s Tom Schreiber. The senior was the unquestioned No. 1 overall pick when the draft came around. In total, seven midfielders were picked in the first three rounds of the 2014 MLL Draft. As the draft rolls around this year, there isn’t the game-changing type midfielder like there was in Schreiber. In fact, I would say that this…

Swarm Pick Up Third Pre Season Win

The Minnesota Swarm stayed a perfect 3-0 in the NLL pre season as they defeated the Colorado Mammoth 16-15 in an overtime shootout. The Swarm trailed 15-14 going into the late fourth quarter when Kiel Matisz tied it. The league decided that instead of overtime the game would go to a shootout, the first OT shootout that meant something this pre season. Shane MacDonald and Jordan MacIntosh scored hat tricks…

One on One With: Jeremy Noble

I got the pleasure of speaking with Jeremy Noble #35 from the Denver Outlaws about his love of lacrosse; his life; moments in his career from the time he started playing lacrosse and up to the MLL Championship game; and what he gives back to the lacrosse community. Both these players will be watched closely if they can keep their production up. The…

2015 MLL Prospects: Attack

The MLL Draft is quickly coming up on the lacrosse world as the temperature drops and snow falls from the sky. Last year, the attack position had several high impact players including Duke’s Jordan Wolf and St. John’s Kieran McArdle who both seemlessly transitioned from the college game to the professional level. Albany’s Miles Thompson and Virginia’s Mark Cockerton were also key contributors for their respective MLL teams. This season,…

Cascade and NOCSAE Find Solutions for R Decertification

As of this morning (Friday) Cascade has announced they’ve come to an agreement with NOCSAE on how to fix their R model helmets. In simple terms, Cascade will manufacture new helmets as Cascade R-M, but the helmets will still say ‘R’. For all those people in the world who already own the helmets, I hope you registered them online as has been stated numerous times over the past few weeks….

Rookie Analysis: Calgary Roughnecks

Heading into a weekend set of games against the Toronto Rock and the Minnesota Swarm, Calgary Roughnecks rookies were afforded plenty of opportunity to show both the coaching staff and management that they deserved a spot on the Roughnecks active roster. The Roughnecks didn’t select until 16th overall in the most recent NLL draft, when they selected the towering 6’10”, 245 pound defender Tyson Roe out of the Nanaimo Timbermen WLA program….

Stealth Release Rookie Dan Keane

The Vancouver Stealth released rookie Dan Keane yesterday. Vancouver wnt 0-2 in the two pre season games he played in last week. Keane was the 23rd overall pick in the draft in the third round by the Stealth. The 5’9 righty is out of Delaware and has played Jr A in Ontario with the Brampton Excelsiors, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him sign with an eastern division…
