Pat Young will be transferring out of UMBC and will be joining Maryland University’s lacrosse team for his final college lacrosse season.
Since Young’s first days as a Retriever, he has been one of the best players at UMBC and of the top players to watch in the American East Conference and NCAA lacrosse. In just his freshman year in 2013, Young recorded 39 points and was the American East Rookie of the year award winner.
In his sophomore campaign Young just got better, scoring 33 goals and 43 points as well as leading his team to the conference championship where they ended up as runners up. Young also became the first player to reach 65 goals in his first two years with the program.
This past season Young had 29 points and tied his career goals in a game recorded with five against Lafayette Young scored five again against Hartford University in his sophomore year.
This spring Young had three or more points in six games, which include six points against Lafayette and three goals to end the year during a game against Albany.
The Ewing, New Jersey native stands at 6-2 and 215 pounds he will add great size, speed and skill to the Maryland midfield. Maryland lost midfielder Joe Locascio but gets back Bryan Cole. Cole along with Young make for a solid first midfield line. Maryland looks to finally win the National Championship after coming up short yet again this year.
Pat Young is a player that can help them achieve that goal.
