Rascals Sign Kirkaldy

Aug 21st, 2012 | Trenton, NJ – The New Jersey Rascals, proud members of the Professional Lacrosse League (PLL) are pleased to announce that they have come to terms with Andrew Kirkaldy for the 2012 season.

Andrew Kirkaldy grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and played his entire minor lacrosse in the Red Deer system. In 2002, he left Red Deer and went and played for the Calgary Jr. A Raiders for three years. There were many highlights in those three years, however, in 2005 Andrew and the Raiders won the Alberta provincial championship and played in the 2005 Minto Cup.

After the Minto was completed Andrew was drafted in the 5th Round 51st overall by the Calgary Roughnecks. Instead of trying out for the Roughnecks, Andrew decided to go to school at Gordon College where he was the 2006 Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year. During his four year stint at Gordon Andrew managed to make the all-conference team each year he played and led his team in scoring two out of his four years. After Gordon, Andrew went and played for the Nanaimo Timberman of the Western Lacrosse League out of British Columbia. In 2009, Andrew was awarded the Keith Mann’s “unsung hero” award.

Andrew currently resides in Peabody, Ma with his wife Erin.

“I’m extremely happy to have Andrew as a part of the organization said Rascals Head Coach Randy Fraser. “Kirks is one of the truly Good People in lacrosse. He always brings a positive energy to the team, he leads by example, and will speak up when its needed. His gifts as a player lie in his big body, soft hands, and an exceptional lacrosse IQ. As a Forward, he will open up space for other players with his size and strong outside shot. Kirks has high expectation for himself for and will do what it takes to be successful.”

“I am honored to be a part of the first ever pro lacrosse team in Trenton, NJ” said Kirkaldy. “Looking forward to playing hard for coach Fraser, coach Howe, and Coach Corey. I have played box my whole life and it is always a thrill to learn new things every day, with this coaching group I feel I will learn more than ever.  I am excited to see some familiar faces on the team, which will help team chemistry. Hopefully this group will bring the first ever PLL championship to Trenton.”
