Tonight Lacrosse Magazine reported that Garrett Billings is unlikely to return to the Toronto Rock after some comments made by the team owner and general manager Jamie Dawick. Via Lacrosse Magazine:
“Garrett and I have a difference of opinion on what he is financially worth. Garrett was offered a contract from T back in the summer.
“He wasn’t in a rush to sign it because he was injured. He countered with a contract that doesn’t work. We’re not close in what we offered him (versus) what he believes he’s worth. Garrett has to make some concessions before he comes back to play for anybody.”
“Garrett is not playing lacrosse right now and that is his choice. I’m not getting in the way of Garrett coming back to the NLL, contrary to some peoples’ beliefs. His demands are unrealistic.”
Billings has been out since tearing his ACL last season, but just two weeks ago his agent tweeted that Billings had been medically cleared to play. However, all had remained quiet on the Toronto front for a long time as the team rose to 8-1.
The NLL trade deadline is a little under a month away, and Billings could be on the move. His hometown is Langley, British Columbia, home of the Vancouver Stealth and the Colorado Mammoth could afford him if they don’t trade for Jeremy Noble.
