Rock Crush Wings 13-8

In a season that resembles a see-saw, the Philadelphia Wings lost their second in a row, after winning three in a row.  So far the see-saw has gone, Win 2, Lose 3,Win 3 Lose 2.  The latest lost was to the division leading Toronto Rock by a score of 13-8.  The Wings were without the services of Brodie Merrill (concussion) and defender Brett Manney (hamstring).  Jeff Reynolds returned to the line-up to give the Wings some help in the face-off circle..

Once again a slow first quarter (1 goal) forced the Wings to play from behind again as Toronto put four past starter Brandon Miller.  The Wings showed a bit of life as they put up a four spot in the second but went into the half down 9-4.  The third quarter was a defensive battle as both goaltenders came up huge, only allowing a goal each.  The closest the Wings were in the game was 9-6, then Toronto went on a four goal run.  Scoring the last goal of the third and the first three of the fourth. When talking to some of the players after the game, they said they can handle losing, but they are losing badly.  The Wings are a dismal 2-4 at home. They were outscored 65-36 in the four loses at home that’s an average of 7.25 goals a game.

The Rock where led by Colin Doyle’s 7 pts (6 assists), Josh Sanderson’s 5 pts (4 goals) and Kyle Belton hat-trick. Nick Rose was credited with the win as he stopped 45-51 shots he faced.

Wings were led by Kevin Crowley’s 4 goals.  Rabil, Westervelt, Ross, Crotty netted a goal each.  Brandon Miller was saddled with the loss stopping 38-50 shots he faced.  Jeff Reynolds returned to win 79% of the face-offs (15-19).    The Wings are off next week, and return to action with two  back to back weekends. On March 29 they travel to Minnesota, and March 30th @ Colorado.  The following weekend they return to the Blue Cross Arena to face Rochester on April 6th, and finally return home April 7th for the Minnesota Swarm.  Wings have 11 days to fix there problems as the last month of the regular season is approaching.  If you want to get on a roll, now is the time.  The only salvation for Wings fans is that the team stayed in second place in the east as both Buffalo and Rochester lost their matchups tonight
