Rock look to hold on to the final playoff spot against the Wings

Tonight the Toronto Rock (5-7) visit the Philadelphia Wings (3-7) in a major eastern division clash. The Rock will be looking for a win to secure their hold on the final playoff spot in the east while the Wings will look to beat the Rock and move one step closer to gaining the final playoff spot in the east.

The Rock and Wings were also involved in a major trade earlier this week that saw Brandon miller traded to the Rock for Kyle Belton and draft picks.  The Rock will hope that Miller can stabilize their goaltending situation as Nick Rose has struggled this season.

In their first meeting this season the Toronto Rock decimated the Wings 20-10. In that game it was actually the newly acquired Miller in net for Wings. So the big question will be if Miller can stand the test against his former team or will the Rock be on the receiving end of a lopsided game.

The Rock have struggled this year holding onto a lead as they have started out strong to begin most games but have faded in the second half of games as they have allowed teams to outscore them in the second half all season long.

The Rock if they want to win this game need to have a complete team effort from start to finish against the Wings. The Rock need to get off to a good start and will need to be able to keep pressure on the Wings for the entire game if they want to win. The Rock cannot afford to blow another lead in the second half because if they do against the Wings it could cost them their playoff spot.

The Wings on the other hand will look to capitalize on the Rock’s mistakes in order to take control of this game. If the Wings can catch the Rock slacking in this game they will be able to break this game wide open and take the victory.

In the end expect the Toronto Rock to keep their playoff spot with a huge victory over the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday night.
