NLL Offseason Recap: Toronto Rock

With the NLL pre-season upon us here is a quick look at the Toronto Rock’s off season. The Rock were quiet this off season as they did not make any big free agent signings but instead secured their core group of players.

The Rock resigned Nick Rose, Josh Sanderson, Stephan LeBlanc, Kasey Beirnes, Sandy Chapman, Jesse Gamble, Mike Lum Walker, and Bill Greer. Rose was signed to a three year deal thanks to his strong play in 2013 as he led the league in wins with 10 and ha the third best goals against average at 10.61.

Sanderson, Leblanc and Beirnes are integral parts of the Rock offense. Sanderson has proven age is only a number as he posted 29 goals and finished third in team scoring with 62 points. Leblanc on the other hand continues to develop and has so far accumulated 281 points in just 63 regular season games and will be a key part of the Rock’s offense for the future.  Beirnes Is another key offensive piece as he had his best season ever with the Rock in 2013 with 31 goals and 54 points.

The Rock defense was also resigned as Greer, Lum Walker, and Gamble will be looked at to lead the defense and shutdown their opposition.

Other notable signings the Rock made were resigning role players Patrick Merrill, Scott Evans, and Rob Hellyer along with defenseman Damon Edwards, Chris White, Scott Johnston, Rob Marshall, Mike Hobbins and Cam Woods.

All in all it appears the Rock are sticking to the status quo and hoping their team can once again finish atop eastern standings.
