The Edmonton Rush got their first home win of the season defeating the Colorado Mammoth 12-10 on Friday night in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd of 8,624 at Sasktel Centre. The win also ends the Mammoth’s four game winning streak.

It was a hard fought battle that did not see the Rush take a lead until the ten-minute mark of the final frame. The crowd was silenced early in the game as the Mammoth stormed out to a 3-0 lead on goals by John Grant and Eli McLaughlin (2). Saskatchewan responded with three quick goals of their own by Greer, Sorichetti, and Davis and in a blink of an eye the game was tied and the tempo was set for a back and forth battle.

Colorado was the aggressor and would take the lead heading into the second half, but the Rush found a way to stay in the game with hard work and opportune saves by their star goaltender Aaron Bold.

Robert Church would eventually get the winner on a shot from the top of the crease with just under five minutes remaining and then captain Chris Corbeil would seal the game on a shorthanded goal that beat Dillon Ward.

Rush forward Mark Mathews led the way with four goals and two assists and Zack Greer had three goals and a helper.

With the win the Rush improve to 2-1 and the Mammoth drop to 4-1. Colorado next travels to Vancouver to face a struggling Stealth team and the Rush will be at home to do battle with their archrival the Calgary Roughnecks.
