Rush Start 1-2 But “Nobody is Panicking”

On Friday night the Edmonton Rush played their third game of the season, and they fell to the three win Washington Stealth. Despite their 1-2 start, defenseman Brett Mydske says that nobody is panicking yet.

“Obviously being 1-2 is how we wanted to start the season, but nobody is panicking. We haven’t been playing terribly, but I think playing a full 60 mins is key. In this league you can’t take a shift off without it costing you a game.”

Mydske says that Edmonton had a chance to win all three games, and they feel confident in their play. Thus far Edmonton has lost to Toronto and Washington, and they also beat Washington once.

“We have had a chance to win all three games. We lost to Toronto by 1 and Washington by 2. Both games we were leading at half time, So we got to come start better in the 3rd quarter.”

The Rush have just 37 goals which is the least in the entire Western Conference. Mydske says for the Rush to find the back of the net, they just need to stick with their game plan.

“I think we just need to be more consistent and stick to the game plan. It seems like we will get up 4 goals and then get away from the game plan or ease up a little bit. Once we fix that we will be in good shape”

Edmonton lost this week by just one goal and next week they face their cross-province rivals, the Calgary Roughnecks. Calgary won twice this week, defeating Colorado and Philadelphia, and no doubt this will be a hard fought game for the Rush.

“They won 2 convincing wins this weekend and they seem to be playing with confidence. They have a lot of offensive weapons which will be a good test for our defense. If we play a full 60 and stick to the game plan we should be fine.”
