At 4 pm MDT an undefeated Scotland team takes the field to play the Iroquois Nationals. In what some would consider a mismatch of talent, this game could turn out to be one of the best in the tournament.
Scotland is led by some great players known in the lacrosse ranks, Jordan McBride, and Kyle Buchanan. Jimmy McBride adding another threat to the teams somewhat potent offense as well. Scoring an average of 17.2 goals a game in the tournament, the Nationals will certainly have their work cut out for them on defense. Handling most of their opponents thus far handily, the goaltending by Ethan Harris for Scotland has been up to the task. Will their defense be able to get the match ups they need against the Iroquois Nationals to keep being successful.
By now everyone following the tournament knows of the talent the Iroquois Nationals have on both sides of the ball. The problem thus far has been their consistency, and ill advised penalties. The road for the Iroquois’ has not gotten any easier all tournament long, playing to a tough loss to Canada in the closing seconds, a hard earned win to Australia, then a route by the Americans. It will take all the focus the Nationals have, and some serious heart for them to turn things around and be a competitor for the title once again.
Will the Iroquois be able to move the ball through Thompson at X or is the fatigue of such a rigorous schedule catching up to him? Can Scotland control the faceoff and possession game, which would tire the Iroquois defense, and keep the ball away from their many threats offensively? These two are the biggest keys for victory over the Iroquois as the Americans showed last night, that and burying shots on a very talented goalie who played out of his mind for the first half.
