Scott Ranger Traded to Shamrocks

The Western Lacrosse Association had some action yesterday as the Victoria Shamrocks dealt for Nanaimo Timbermen forward Scott Ranger according to the league.

The Timbermen acquire from Victoria Kyle Dexter, Jake Emms and two conditional second rounders. One of them becomes a first rounder if Victoria is to win the Mann Cup this upcoming season or in 2014.

Ranger, who plays in the National Lacrosse League with the Calgary Roughnecks, averages 4.21 points per game in his WLA career. He was the MVP of the league in 2011 and has 325 career goals over his eight seasons.

“Scott Ranger is arguably the best player in the WLA today and for the last three years,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch in a press release.

The Shamrocks already have four players in the top seven scoring from last season, including 2011 NLL MVP and Calgary team mate Jeff Shattler.

Ranger has been a WLA all star the past four seasons. He spent three seasons with Victoria junior team in the early decade, so he is now returning to the team that started his Canadian lacrosse career. He was the highest scorer in British Columbia juniors in 2003.
