Shamrocks Strike back taking game two 10-6

On Friday Night game two of the WLA championship took place. The Langley Thunder took game one 7-6 as they outlasted the Victoria Shamrocks to take a 1-0 lead in the series.  Going into game two the Shamrocks were hoping to make adjustments to avoid going down 2-0 in the series.

Langley wasted no time in taking control of this game as Shayne Jackson scored just over a minute into the game and put the Thunder up 1-0. It would be all Thunder early as Scott Johnston and Garrett Billings would scored to give the Thunder a 3-0 lead. Victoria would get back in this game on a goal from Mitch Jones which cut the lead to two and made it 3-1. Langley would score just seven seconds later to go up 4-1 at the end of one period of play.

In the second period the Shamrocks woke up.  Rhys Duch scored five minutes into the second period to cut the lead in half making it 4-2. The Shamrocks would then score two unanswered goals to tie the game at 4-4. Langley would regain the lead on a goal from Adam Jones their only goal of the period to put the Thunder up 5-4. Cory Conway would tie the game back up at the end of the second period as he beat Brodie MacDonald to make the score 5-5 at the end of two periods of play.

In the third period Victoria would continue their onslaught as Rhys Duch kicked off a three goal streak from Victoria to put the Shamrocks up 8-5. Dane Dobbie would attempt to stop the damage for Langley and scored to make it 8-6 but it was too late. The Shamrocks would seal this game as Ben McCullough and Scott Carnegie score to give the Shamrocks the 10-6 victory.

The Shamrocks won this game thanks to their defense as they were able to contain Langley snipers Atahn Iannucci, Dane Dobbie and Garrett Billings. The Shamrocks were able to dig deep in the second period after a rocky start to this game and take control on route to their 10-6 victory. The series will now shift to Victoria with the series tied 1-1.
