Sources: Corey Small Has Torn ACL

According to multiple sources, Edmonton Rush scorer Corey Small suffered a torn ACL. In Lacrosse We Trust learned on Thursday that Corey Small of the Edmonton Rush tore his ACL playing with the Victoria Shamrocks, and it was confirmed by multiple sources.

ILWT initially heard of this on Tuesday, and on Thursday a second source with knowledge of the WLA and the Shamrocks also confirmed this. Later on, NLL player agent Chaka Bainbridge also confirmed this.

Small got injured in game one of the Western Lacrosse Association finals between the Shamrocks and Langley Thunder. He has not played since, and tweeted on Tuesday about getting an MRI. The team has not announced the injury, and they have declined comment or not responded to inquiries.

If the ACL is torn it is likely that Small will miss at least some time in 2014, meaning the Rush might need to upgrade their scoring on the left side. The Rush hold the fourth overall pick in the draft which they acquired from Philadelphia two years ago. Some lefty scoring options that may be available include Tor Reinholdt, Adrian Sorchetti, Dylan Goddard and Riley Loewen.
