Six Nations prepare for Mann Cup

With the MSL season over the MSL Champions the Six Nations Chiefs await the winner of the WLA final between Langley and Victoria. This will be the first time Six Nations have been in the Mann Cup since 1996. In the MSL final the Chiefs swept the Brooklin Redmen to earn their Mann Cup Birth.

When looking at the Chiefs there are a few players the winners of the WLA final should look out for in the Mann Cup. First and foremost is Cody Jamieson who has 19 goals and 20 assists in the playoffs and won the MSL MVP award and is the heart of this Chiefs team. The other heads of the Chiefs attack are the duo of Colin Doyle and Craig Point. Doyle and Point both had 35 points in the playoffs and will be expected to produce in the Mann Cup if the Chiefs hope to win. The other key to the Chiefs success is goalie Evan Kirk who posted a perfect 9-0 record along with 6.44 G.A.A. The Chiefs have all the talent they need to win the Mann Cup but they will face some stiff competition.

Both teams from the WLA have high powered offenses and solid goal tending which has been evident to anyone watching the WLA final. The Chiefs need to be prepared to match the up tempo pace of these two teams or they need to completely slow them down to have any hopes of winning the Mann Cup. Langley’s key strength is their offensive depth as they can consistently roll lines against any team and have sharp shooters on every moment of the game. Victoria’s biggest strength would have to be Matt Vince who can stand on his head when needed and is able to keep his team in the game. Victoria is also a team that will not give up and will fight to the very end. The Chiefs will have their handfuls in the Mann Cup but it should be a great series to watch.
