Tavares Out Again for Bandits

On the NLL weekly coaches-media call yesterday, head coach Darris Kilgour said that team captain and 22 year veteran John Tavares will miss his second straight game due to a hamstring injury.

Last week Tavares was out in the Buffalo loss to the 5-1 Toronto Rock at home. Newcomer and defenseman Derek Suddons, who had been a veteran in Edmonton, was named captain for that week.

Tavares, who was named captain for the first time in his long career, had 14 points in four games so far this season before the injury. He scored six points against the Minnesota Swarm on January 12th, and then four against the Philadelphia Wings on January 26th, his last game.

With Tavares out, last week Buffalo scored 12 goals in their loss. Shawn Williams was their leading point getter with four while Mark Steenhius and Aaron Wilson scored three goals each to lead the team in that department/

A Tavares-less Bandits squad will play the 1-3 Rochester Knighthawks Saturday night in Buffalo.
