Trades that helped Shape the Toronto Rock

With free agency in full swing let’s take a look back at the trades that have helped shape the Toronto Rock.

The first major deal that helped the Rock was acquiring Josh Sanderson. The Rock traded Jeff Gilbert, a 9th round pick in the Boston Blazers dispersal draft, a 12th pick in the 2011 draft and a conditional 1st round pick in the 2012 draft to the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for Sanderson and Nick Inch.

Overall this was a good deal for the Rock as Sanderson has delivered. Sanderson had 29 goals and 33 assists in 2013. Sanderson was the key in this deal and has become a corner stone of the Toronto Rock. Sanderson is one of the key pieces in the Rock’s offence along with Garrett Billing and Colin Doyle who give the Rock a three pronged offensive attack.

The second major deal that has helped shape the rock was trading their 1st round pick in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft to Calgary for Nick Rose and a conditional second round pick in the 2014 entry draft. Rose lead the NLL in wins last season with 10 and posted a 10.61 G.A.A and made 607 saves. Rose gives the Rock stability in net which has enabled them to be consistent playoff contenders.

These two trades were the biggest trades that have help shape the 2014 Toronto Rock. In Rose and Sanderson the Rock  have two franchise players who give the Rock the ability to win in 2014.
