Tye Belanger Focused On New England Opportunity

The New England Black Wolves have a solid starting goalie in Evan Kirk. Going into their first season, however, there have been questions about who will be backing up. After Kevin Croswell was released, it was announced the team had traded for Colorado Mammoth backup Tye Belanger, and that was their answer.

“Excited on this new chapter in my lacrosse career.” says Belanger. “It;s thrilling to know I’ll be a part of this team going into its inaugural season. The coaching staff and players have been great in welcoming me to the team”

Over his career, Belanger has seen starting time with Colorado, but was usurped by rookie Dillon Ward. Ward had such a good season that he was signed to a five year extension,

“I’m  focused on my short term role with the team.” he says. “Doing what ever it takes in order to help this team succeed.”

New England has had a struggling defense in the pre season, and Kirk struggled in his last game against Toronto, while Belanger did not play bad. Kirk is the starter, and it would take a lot for that to change, but Belanger can bring some value to the team.

“This is a group of guys with a blue collar mentality who are hungry for a championship.” Belanger said. “Great bunch of guys off the floor as well make it a comfortable setting to be brought into.”
