Vincent Talbot Blog: Playoffs for the Voyageurs

It is playoff time for the Voyageurs!

Last Tuesday was the first game of the best of three semi-final series against the Montreal Phoenix.  We knew this one was going to be difficult for a couple of reasons. First of all the Phoenix is a very competitive team that won’t give you an inch. I’ve read many articles this year talking about how much they’ve improved with stronger offense and deeper defense.  We’ve also faced them four times this season splitting the series 2-2. I don’t think it’s in the philosophy of our team to take our adversaries lightly and it was certainly not going to be the case for that first playoff game.

Our roster is composed of American and Canadian players from Quebec to Delaware making it hard to travel with a full squat on week days. That was the first challenging step for us going into that series. Fortunately we came out on top of that close first game 13-12. Pat Poirier made the important saves and Dan Deckelbaum scored 6 goals to help us come out on top.

The series is going back to Essex Friday for the second game.  Come and watch, it is going to be worth it!

Go Voyageurs!
