Washington Stealth to Relocate to Langley for 2014 NLL Season

On Thursday it was announced that the 2010 NLL Champions the Washington Stealth would be moving north of the border for the 2014 NLL season. The Stealth will be moving to Vancouver British Columbia and will play out of the Langley Events Centre (LEC) home to the WLA’s Langley Thunder.

The Stealth have been one of the most successful teams over the last five years in the NLL having reached the finals three of the past four seasons and winning the championship in 2010. The Stealth will hope to continue their winning ways in Vancouver.

Owner Denise Watkins had this to say about the move “Our goal is to bring our brand of Stealth Lacrosse with us and continue the strong tradition we have built in the Greater Vancouver Market. This move will mark the NLL’s return to Vancouver after the Vancouver Ravens folded in 2004. Fans in the Langley area are also very familiar with one of the Stealth’s best players as Athan Iannucci plays summer lacrosse for the Langley Thunder of the WLA.

This is the first time that an NLL team will be based out of Langley. There have been two pre season games there in the past two years, one in which the Stealth played in. The NLL championship game hosted by the Stealth was also played there against the Rochester Knighthawks.

The Stealth and the Langley Events Centre will host a press conference on Tuesday July 2nd at 11 am PT at the LEC in which information about ticket pricing, season ticket availability, sponsorship opportunities and more plans will be announced.
