News / Notes / Observations:

Spring Break Time Out

Michigan’s Spring Break schedule really takes the steam out of the season. There were no girl’s games scheduled and only a handful of boy‘s games.

Glaring Disparity

I know that A + B does not always = C. But, Brother Rice beat a top 10 team in U of D on April 2, 19-1. Two days later, U of D beat a top 5 team in Cranbrook. That tells me that Brother Rice is once again, head and shoulders above the rest here in the state. That is not news.

Playing With the Big Boys

Country Day and Forest Hills Central have played power teams from around the area – Culver (IN) and the Hill Academy (ONT). Good for them and good for the state. Brother Rice has carried the banner for a while – and with great success. Michigan needs other teams to go out and play these teams. Of course, they need to do well; if they get dominated, they won’t get the return match-ups. DCD loses badly to both Culver and the Hill Academy – jury is still out.
