Some of the top picks in the National Lacrosse League draft this season were not earned from a team’s play on the turf. In fact, some of the best picks have come from trades.
Where have all of these picks come from? Let’s take a look.
1. Edmonton Rush
The Rush acquired this draft pick from the Washington Stealth in the Athan Iannucci trade. After getting three first rounders and Iannucci from Philly, the Rush got this top pick from the Stealth along with Paul Rabil, who they switched over to Rochester.
2. Minnesota Swarm
Acquired from the Buffalo Bandits for goaltender Anthony Cosmo.
3. Minnesota Swarm
The Swarm got this pick from Buffalo after it belonged to Philadelphia before it belonged to Edmonton. This is also related to the Iannucci trade before Edmonton traded the pick to Buffalo.
4. Minnesota Swarm
Earned based on final standings.
5. Buffalo BanditsÂ
The Bandits got this pick from Minnesota along with Shawn Williams. The Swarm had gotten this pick from the Toronto Rock for Josh Sanderson.
6. Calgary Roughnecks
The Knighthawks got this pick from the Mammoth in 2010 in the Gavin Prout trade. It ended up with Calgary as a part of the Shawn Evans trade with the KHawks.
7. Calgary RoughnecksÂ
Earned based on final standings.
8. Edmonton Rush
Earned based on final standings.
9. Colorado Mammoth
Part of the John Grant Jr trade from 2010.
10. Minnesota Swarm
Acquired from the Boston Blazers for Kevin Buchanan.
