Wiles Comes Home to Philly in Trade

Just two days before the draft the Philadelphia Wings pulled off their third trade in two days.  This time the Wings have re-acquired Luke Wiles from Buffalo in exchange for two second round picks in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft.

Wiles an eight year veteran who has spent time with the Stealth (2006-08, 2010-11) Toronto (2009) and Buffalo (2012-13) He registered 10G/11A in limited action over twelve games last season.  In 2012 he led the Bandits in scoring with 39 goals

In his four and a half seasons with the Stealth Wiles has averaged 25G/34A a season.  Hopefully he can do that and more as he will need to fill the shoes of recently departed veteran Drew Westervelt.  Trade is also beneficial as it will enable Wiles to play lacrosse as well as work and be close to his wife and family.

Wiles started his NLL career in Philadelphia, but after only six games he was part of a trade that sent himself along with Chad Thompson to the San Jose Stealth in exchange for Mike Regan.  WHO?!   Wings General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson at the time said “I believe that we’re a better team today than yesterday”.  Seven years later Wings fans are still shaking their heads on this trade.

Back in 2006 I couldn’t find 1 person who was happy or understood this trade, and I still cant today.   In 2003-2004 Regan had 44G, but in 2005 played 2 games and wasn’t playing at all in 06 until we traded for him.  And he tallied 6G and 11A in 6 games. THATS IT!!

Since the end of the season in 2006 Regan has vanished.
