Wings Clipped As Rock Roll

The Philadelphia Wings crossed the border at 3-3 and returned home with a loss. The Toronto Rock (3-3) remained unbeaten at home (3-0) as they rolled over the Wings 20-10.

Garrett Billings, who has slowly been heating up, was on fire as he recorded 12 points (6 G, 6 A). Stephan LeBlanc and Kasey Biernes scored 4 G, 2 A apiece while captain Colin Doyle (3 G, 4 A) led the offensive onslaught.

The Wings took their only lead as Tracey Kelusky (3G) scored the first goal of the game. After that it was all Rock. Goaltender Nick Rose stopped 41 shots to get the win.

Philadelphia alternated goaltenders a couple of times during the game, as recently signed Brandon Miller saw 31:51 of action and was saddled with the loss. Miller stopped 16 of 25 shots faced. Evan Kirk, who started the game only to be pulled twice, stopped 13 of 24 shots.

Pat Saunders continued to play well on offense by registering 2 G, 2 A while Kevin Crowley recorded his first hat trick of the season. Hopefully for the Wings Crowley builds on his goal scoring as the season continues.

Toronto took advantage of the untimely Philadelphia penalties by going five-for-seven on the power-play and killing off five of six penalties.

Roger Vyse, who was signed 10 days ago was inserted into the lineup as Jordan Hall was a scratch last night.

Philadelphia have a quick turnaround as they face the undefeated Edmonton Rush at 7:30 pm tonight.
