Wings Sign Stickhorses Forward McClellan, Former Defender Kyle Sweeney

Today the Philadelphia Wings bring back a cagey veteran.  Kyle Sweeney returns home just in time for these weekends’ matchups against Rochester and Colorado. The Wings also signed Mike McLellan.  McLellan was part of the big trade with Edmonton back in August of 2011 (see below)

McLellan started his career in 2006 with the Arizona Stingers.  His travels then took him to NewYork/Orlando Titans, Colorado Mammoth, Edmonton Rush, and now back here to Philly. He has also played with the Kentucky Stickhorses in the North American Lacrosse League.

In 80 games McLellan has tallied 121 goals and 93 assists.  Most of those points where with the Titans from 07-10.  Wings are hoping he has some of the scoring touch left.

Fan favorite Kyle Sweeney a local player from Springfield Pa and Georgetown University returns back home after sitting out the 2012 season.  Sweeney was released during the 2011 season and signed by the Rush. Sweeney in 99 games with the Wings tallied 27 Goals  66 assists and 566 loose balls, and with his brief stay in Edmonton he registered 1 goal 7 assists and 24 loose balls.

The next time Kyle puts on the Wings sweater it will be his 100th game for his local franchise, no doubt in my mind that Sweeney is happy to be back home again and playing in front of the Loyal Loud and Proud.
