With Burke Out, Cannons Need Answers

Jordan Burke has a broken thumb, and that puts the Boston Cannons in a tough situation. Burke has been their starting goaltender for the past two seasons and was the MVP when they won the championship in 2011. However, he has struggled in the past few months but despite this, they need him in their net.

Head coach Steve Duffy said that Burke was placed on the Injured Reserve list. It can be presumed that it will be Mike Gabel, a former Rochester Rattler, who will be the starter on Saturday against Denver.

Meanwhile, Duffy also said for a chance to win Saturday they need to play a lot better. ” We need to play with more discipline and try to find a flow on offense. We’re just not finding any rhythm in our game.

Despite expressing his concerns, Duffy is not yet ready to panic about the slow start for Boston. “It’s early; we’ve lost the first two games of the season, not the last two games of the season.”

The Cannons need to get their offense going (Matt Poskay has just one point) but without Burke in net, they don’t have much time to find themselves as they prepare for maybe the best team in lacrosse.
