WLA Draft Preview: King Looks To Be Top Pick

Thursday night the WLA draft will take place with the Coquitlam Adanacs having first pick. The rest of the pick order is as follows:

2. New Westminster Salmonbellies

3. Maple Ridge Burrards

4. Coquitlam Adanacs

5.  New Westminster Salmonbellies

6.  Victoria Shamrocks

7.  Nanaimo Timberman

With the draft order set here is a look at some of the top players in this year’s draft.

Jesse King

King made his WLA debut last season when he played in the Mann Cup with the Victoria Shamrocks. King made one hell of an impact as he had four goals and one assist in two games during the final. King has size and strength and is a natural goal scorer and is the clear number one pick in this draft.

Tyler Garrison

Garrison has been touted as the most WLA ready pure defender. Garrison is a big and agile defender with a great sense for the game. Garrison knows where to be at the right time and when to push the pace. Garrison will upgrade any team’s defense.

Sean Lundstrom

Lundstrom in 2012 put up career numbers in both assists and points while he was with the Jr. Thunder. Lundstrom has a great shot from the outside but he will need to work on his inside game. Lundstrom will be best used in the transition game and will give team’s a great shot from the point on the power play.

Frankie Scigliano

Scigliano has been on WLA general manage’s radars for years. Scigliano has been a force in between the pipes during his Jr. A career and will look to carry this play into his WLA career. Scigliano is a large goalie but is also very agile and can make the save and then outlet the ball quickly. Scigliano already has 30 NLL games under his belt from his time with the Calgary Roughnecks and is a guaranteed top five pick.

Only time will tell before we know who is drafted number one in this year’s draft.
