WLA Power Rankings: Shamrocks Lead the Pack

Season is in full swing, and some teams are finding more success than others:

7. Coquitlam Adanacs (1-4-0): The Adanacs after starting the season with a win over the Langley Thunder have been sliding downhill as they have lost their last four games. The Adanacs have been struggling to find offense this season as only two players on the team have more than 10 points. The Adanacs need their secondary scoring to pick up if they want to move up on this list.

6. Nanaimo Timbermen (1-4-1): The Timbermen have shown themselves to be a formidable team this season as took the Sharocks to the limit in a match that ended in a draw. The Timbermen have fought back from being behind in countless games this season but it has proven to be too little too late for the Timbermen. If the Timbermen plan on improving they need to get off to better starts in games and build an early lead they can work with instead of playing from behind.

5. New Westminster Salmonbellies (2-2-0): The Salonbellies have shown glimpses of greatness this season as they have had some great games but on the other hand they have looked mediocre at times this season. The Salmonbellies have the offensive potential to compete with the best teams they just need more time to gel. If the Salmonbellies can get their offense firing on all cylinders they will be in good shape as goalie Alexis Buque has been solid posting 7.39 G.A.A and has given the Salmonbellies a chance to win every game this season.

4. Maple Ridge Burrards (3-3-0): The Burrards after a solid start to their season have slipped recently but they were able to pick up a win last week to get back to a .500 record. The Burrards offense has given teams all they can handle. The problem for the Burrards has been their goaltending as they have tried three different goaltenders this year with all three providing mixed results. The Burrards need their goaltending to improve if they want to compete for first in the WLA. The Burrards will be getting an offensive boost shortly as Curtis Dickson should be back in the lineup soon.

3. Langley Thunder (3-3-0): The Thunder after starting off the season 0-3 have won their last three games and appear to have found their groove. The Thunder owe their success to Alex Turner who has been on fire posting 28 points in six games along with Athan Iannucci who has 24 points in six games. The Thunder will get a huge test this week when they play their rivals the Victoria Shamrocks. If they can beat the Shamrocks do not be surprised when the Thunder move up this list next week.

2. Burnaby Lakers (3-1-0): The Lakers have been rolling this season going 3-1 in their first four games. The Lakers have been winning thanks to their offensive depth as they have had numerous players step up and add secondary scoring this season. I net Tyler Richards has slowly been getting comfortable in between the pipes and if he can continue to improve then the Lakers will be a legit contender for first in the WLA.

1. Victoria Shamrocks (4-0-1): The Shamrocks are the only undefeated team in the WLA and have continued where they left off last season. Cory Small and Rhys Duch have been powering the Shamrocks engine and have been key to the Shamrocks early season success. So far this season no team has appeared to be a true challenger to the Shamrocks this season. The Shamrocks offense and defense has been stellar this year and if they keep up their strong play it will be difficult for any team to challenge the Shamrocks for first place.
