Thunder Look for Second Win of Week

Tonight there are two games on the WLA schedule as the Nanaimo Timbermen (4-9) host the first place Langley Thunder (9-3-2). While the Maple Ridge Burrards (7-6) travel to face the Coquitlam Adanacs (4-8-1).

Nanaimo Timber vs. Langley Thunder

The Timbermen will look to snap a two game losing streak against the Thunder. While The Thunder will look for their fifth straight win. So far this season the Thunder have dominated the Timbermen inning both games by scores of 7-5 and 14-5. In this game expect Langley to try to get off to a quick start as they will look to pepper Zach Boychuk with shots as he has been shaky at best in net for the Timbermen. The Thunder will want to spread the ball and get it into the hands of Dane Dobbie, Athan Iannucci and Shayne Jackson.

The Timbermen on the other hand will need to do whatever it takes to slow this game down and will need to play man defense in order to deal with Langley’s overwhelming offense. The Timbermen will have their hands full as Langley goaltender Brodie MacDonald has been stellar this year posting a G.A.A of 7.38. The Timbermen will rely on Cayle Ratcliff to carry the offense and to find a way to score on MacDonald.

In the end Langley will be too much for the Timbermen to handle as the Thunder will win this game and sweep the season series between these two teams.

Coquitlam Adanacs vs. Maple Ridge Burrards

The Adanacs will look to snap their two game losing streak in this game while the Burrards will look to get back on the winning track after dropping a tough 13-12 loss to Langley. The Burrards won the only meeting between these two teams this season by a score of 14-12.

Things in Coquitlam have been chaotic this season as the fired their General Manager and traded their two best players in the form of Nick Rose and Dane Dobbie to the Langley Thunder. The Adanacs in this game will need to get their heads on straight as defeating Maple Ridge will be a tough task. The Adanacs will first and foremost need to find a away to stop Curtis Dickson as he has run rampant over the WLA this season. Coquitlam will also need Adam Shute to step up and find his game as he has struggle lately in net. On offense Brett Hickey and Jesse Guerin will need to shoulder the load and find ways to put the ball in the net against a Burrards team that has shown to be shaky this season.

The Burrards in order to win this game will simply need to pressure Adam Shute. Shute has struggled all year and if Curtis Dickson can score early expect him to have a big night offensively that will be enough to carry the Burrards to victory. The Burrards will need to be slid on defense as they cannot expect their offense to score seven plus goals every night. In net Chris Levis will need to be sharp as he will be tested by the Adanacs offense.

In the end Curtis Dickson will be a one man wrecking crew and walk through the Adanacs on route to the Burrards eighth win of the season.
