The Vermont Voyageurs announced on Monday that the club has signed Kurt Hunziker as the first Junior player of the 2014 season. Kurt Hunziker is going into his second season with the Umass Minutemen after a successful first year in 2013. Kurt is a graduate of Masconomet regional high school where he scored a school record of 267 points on 191 goals and 76 assists in just three varsity seasons.
Joe Evans on adding Kurt to the Voyageurs Junior roster “We are very excited to have signed Kurt for the upcoming 2014 season. He is a very physical, hard-nosed player who’s game will transfer well into the box game. He played two great games out in Syracuse with us making few mistakes and getting himself a couple points in transition, having never played at the senior level he stood out right away. With his size we expect to see him dressing for some Sr. games as well.”
The Vermont Voyageurs Junior team will open up June 28th at 4PM at Essex Skating Facility vs. the Montreal Shamrocks. Tryouts for the 2014 Junior team will be June 21-22 and are open to players 17-21. For more information emailinfo@vermontvoyageurs.com.
