2015 NLL Breakout Players: Damon Edwards

As the NLL season approaches many offensive players are getting attention. One player to watch this year though will be Damon Edwards who plays defensive for the Toronto Rock.

Coming up with Toronto, Edwards went to the Boston Blazers in his rookie year before moving on to CLax. He signed back with Toronto and has emerged as a potential breakout player.

Edwards played this summer with the Coquitlam Adanacs before being traded to the Langley Thunder. Edwards put up 4 goals and 8 assists in the regular season this year. In the playoffs Edwards added three assists. Edwards is not known for his point production but more for his ability to gain loose balls. With the Toronto Rock last season in the NLL, Edwards recorded a career high 22 points with 7 goals and 15 assists. Edwards also recorded 66 loose balls and had 17 forced turnovers.

Edwards will want to build off his 2014 season as he had one of the best seasons of his career. The Rock will need Edwards to be the rock on their defense this season as they struggled last year at holding onto leads. Edwards will need to continue to get into the dirty areas and battle for balls while forcing turnovers. Edwards has proven to be a reliable defensive player and will needs to continue to improve but he is poised to have an outstanding 2015.
