CLax Players to Watch: Week Eight

March 1, 2013

There are several players to watch in week eight as all seven CLax teams will be in action but here are three players to really keep your eyes on. On Friday night you’ll want to keep a close watch on Delby Powless. The Ohsweken Demons veteran is averaging over 5 points per game and it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon. At 5’7 and 175 pounds he…

CLax Three Stars: Week Seven

February 27, 2013

It was a busy weekend in the Canadian Lacrosse League with all seven teams in action. Here are the CLax three stars for week seven. 3rd star – Johnnie Rae of the Barrie Blizzard Rae was solid at both ends of the rink this weekend. He used his size to drive to the net often which created a lot of space for his teammates. He has an intimidating presence and…

TurfDogs Acquire Kenny from Shooting Stars

February 27, 2013

The Durham TurfDogs made a big move on Tuesday sending Dan Ransom to the Toronto Shooting Stars in exchange for Blake Kenny. Ransom hadn’t seen much turf time as of late and was out of the lineup completely when Durham met the Barrie Blizzard on Sunday. It’s still unclear as to why he wasn’t dressed but his teammates say he was unhappy about sitting out and that could be what…

Blizzard Still Winless, Trounced by Niagara

February 25, 2013

After suffering two tough losses this weekend the Barrie Blizzard are still winless on the season. Saturday they lost 15-7 in Oshawa against the Durham TurfDogs and then they were blown out 21-5 versus the Niagara Lock Monsters the very next day. The regular referees were at a clinic in Ottawa so the CLax was forced to use replacement refs for Saturday’s matinee. The inexperience of these referees was evident as the game was filled with…

CLax: Blizzard Look to Snap Streak

February 22, 2013

The Barrie Blizzard will try to end their four game losing streak this Saturday when they face the Durham TurfDogs who are coming off a tough loss versus Brampton. Barrie has been struggling all season but are due to explode any game now. Question is will that game be this weekend? Not if Durham has anything to say about it; the TurfDogs haven’t lot two in a row all season…

February 20, 2013

All seven teams were in action this week but the Niagara Lock Monsters stood head and shoulders above the rest. Niagara had the weekend off but played back to back games on Monday and Tuesday, controlling both contests from start to finish. Their domination this week was good enough to bump them past four other teams and into the number one spot for this week’s CLax Power Rankings. Here are…

MSL Draft Recap: Northmen Dominate

February 14, 2013

Just like in the regular season, the late arrival of the Six Nations Chiefs delayed the evening. The Major Series Lacrosse draft was slated to begin at 7pm Wednesday night but representatives from the Chiefs did not arrive until closer to 7:30pm, pushing the draft back to 8pm. You can’t really blame Six Nations; they only had two picks in this year’s MSL draft so we’re lucky they even graced…
