Blizzard and Lock Monsters Bring in New Owners

Canadian Lacrosse League (CLax) Commissioner, Paul St. John and Deputy of the League, Jim Veltman along with Charlesway Corportion Limited (CCL), are pleased to announce they have reached a new partnership beginning in the 2013 season.  This new partnership will see CCL take control over management of the CLax teams located in Niagara and Barrie. Provincial outdoor ball hockey powerhouse Ball Hockey International (BHi) has signed on to be the major sponsor of each of these teams.

CCL, founded by the late Roy Cairns is deeply committed to giving back to the community.  They are proud to have gifted to communities and a defined range of charities over the past 25 years.  CCL CFO, Jay Tober, said “I am extremely proud of our capacity to give back to the communities of Niagara and Barrie.  Our partnership with CLax and BHi provides us with a great avenue to give back to the community and support a fantastic league of elite level lacrosse.” The Cairns family recently donated 10 Million dollars to Brock University’s Bioscience Research Centre’s evolution. With this recent partnership, Jeff Cairns (President) and brother John pay tribute to their Dad’s long serving Executive Assistant, the late Maureen Conradi (a name all too familiar with Lacrosse) from Niagara.

Ball Hockey International is Ontario’s premier outdoor ball hockey league who operates rinks across the province.  BHi VP and General Manager, Chad Asselstine says, “We’re thrilled to be a major sponsor of these two teams.  At BHi, we believe that sports builds strong kids and we value the importance of youth athletics and the power of sport within our communities.”

Paul St. John is thrilled to have CCL partner with CLax, “From the first time Jim Veltman and I met this group we were impressed, they have a vision for growth and support in all levels of sport and life, a game plan for success and to have them join us will not only give
the Niagara Lock Monsters and Barrie Blizzard great leadership and a solid foundation, they will also assist us with input and knowledge at the head office level that will ultimately give CLax a strong foundation moving forward.”
