Canadian Lacrosse Notebook: Shamrocks, Lakers Hot

Results

Sunday saw the Coquitlam Adanacs come out on top against the Nanaimo Timbermen by a 9-6 score. That same day the Burnaby Lakers topped the Maple Ridge Burrards 11-7. Last night the Langley Thunder and New Westminster Salmonbellies finished with a 7-7 tie.

On Sunday the Peterborough Lakers topped the slumping Brampton Excelsiors 8-5 and on Tuesday the Kodiaks defeated the Brooklin Redmen 8-7. Last night the Redmen got another loss as the Oakville Rock defeated them 7-6.

Games Upcoming

Tonight the Timbermen and Bellies battle while Friday sees Langley travel to Burnaby and while the Adanacs face the Victoria Shamrocks. On Saturday Burnaby continues their road trip at Coquitlam.

The Excelsiors look to get back on track as they face the Six Nations Chiefs while the Kodiaks travel to Peterborough. On Saturday the Excelsiors travel to Six Nations for a rematch.

Tonight tin QSLL action the Snake Island Muskies take on the Kahnawake Mohawks.

League Leaders

Curtis Dickson of the Burrards leads the WLA with 62 points. Tied for second is team mate Jarrett Davis with 41 along with Burnaby scorer Dane Stevens. Corey Small is fourth in the league with 39 points.

The Lakers’ Shawn Evans leads Major Series Lacrosse with 55 points. Brooklin scorer Shawn Williams is second with 46 while Aaron Wilson from the Kodiaks has 39. A positive sign for Minnesota Swarm fans is the play of Josh Gillam, who is fourth in the league with 32 points with the Lakers.

Angus Laborgne leads the league with 18 goals with the Indians. In second is Tim Bergin with 16 with the Axemen  and Joe Hall with 16 as well with the Muskies. Brett Perras of the Axemen has the best GAA in the league with 7.93 while Jake Lazore with the Muskies is at 8.97. Three goalies are tied with a GAA of 9.00; Mike Thompson of the Mohawks, Joe Evans of the Voyageurs and Edmund Cathers of the Indians but all have played just one game.

Where Teams Stand

The Shamrocks are tops in the WLA with 12 points but not far behind and the Thunder with 11 and the Burarrds with 10. It’s a tight race overall as the league sees New Westminster with 9 and Burnaby with 8.

The MSL race is just as tight as the WLA, with the Lakers leading with 12 points and Brooklin tied with the Chiefs in second with 11.

The Axemen lead the QSLL at 6-3 with the Mohawks behind them at 3-1. In the TNSLL, The Indians are 5-4 and the Muskies right behind them at 4-3.
