Cannons Snap Slump, Defeat 2-6 Nationals

The Cannons and Nationals both needed wins last night in Hamilton, but it was the Cannons who came up with the 15-13 win.

Ari Sussman had five goals to lead the Cannons, the he had since his first game of the season against the Rochester Rattlers. Matt Poskay had three goals while Ryan Boyle had two and Kevin Buchanan had two.

Jordan Burke was a beast in net. He made eighteen saves and faced thirty one shots in the game against a very aggressive Nationals team. In the goal for them was Brett Queener and Scott Rodgers. Rodgers made three saves on nine shots and Queener eight saves on fourteen shots.

For the Nationals, they saw three goals from David Earl, four from Cody Jamieson and two from Joe Resetarits. Earl, Joe Walters and Stephen Keogh also got three assists a piece.

Since Long Island has lost two games in a row, the Cannons are now tied for second place with the Denver Outlaws, who won on Wednesday. They also gain a game on the Chesapeake Bayhawks, who fell tonight to the Charlotte Hounds.

Meanwhile the Nationals fall to 2-6 and are two and a half games behind Long Island and Rochester for a playoff spot, and are now half a game behind the Charlotte Hounds.
