Eastern Conference Notes: Dawson Debuts

This week the NLL season kicks off; however there is only one game featuring only one eastern conference team. The Rochester Knighthawks head out west to start defending their title by facing the Washington Stealth. Rochester’s roster features many story lines that should be interesting to watch.

The debuts of Dan Dawson and Casey Powell will be highly talked about. How these two players fit in is still unknown, especially with all the other weapons Rochester has at its disposal. Their first test is Washington, who had a very down year last season. Rochester is the heavy favorite, but they still have a lot to prove this season.

The game will be the first regular season game using the new Youtube stream with association with the Lacrosse Network. The game starts at 10:00 pm eastern.
The rest of the Eastern Conference waits until week two, which will be full of game action. Buffalo kicks off their season with two games, against Philadelphia on Friday and Minnesota on Saturday. Toronto plays two games as well, against Calgary on Saturday and Edmonton on Sunday.

The only all Eastern matchup will be the Bandits against Philadelphia, which should be an interesting matchup. Buffalo has a very different roster than last season that many will be interested to get a look at. Philadelphia made some moves this offseason that made some scratch their heads, but they do have weapons. The game will be Paul Rabil, Jordan Hall, and Kevin Buchanan’s debut with the Wings.
