How Will Galloway Fare in 2014?

John Galloway will return to action this season for the Rochester Rattlers. Galloway’s career at Syracuse puts him as one of the elite goalies in the lacrosse world.

He is the NCAA Division I leader in career wins with 59, and compiled an impressive 7.33 GAA. His success in college led to his selection in the fourth round of the 2011 Collegiate Draft by Rochester. In his rookie year, he compiled a 2-7 record and a 13.11 GAA. Galloway’s sophomore campaign in 2012 was successful, as he improved his record to 6-6 and his GAA to 12.71.

In the 2013 season, Galloway continued to improve his numbers. A 6-7 record and an 11.97 GAA shows that he will keep getting better at the MLL level. He was third in the league last season in goals against average behind only Jesse Schwartzman and Kip Turner.

The Rattlers have had a very busy offseason, trading away Ned Crotty, Steven DeNapoli and Matt Striebel. However, they have added Grant Catalino, MJ Kiekebelt, and Justin Turri. But where does that leave the offense? More goals for Rochester will take the pressure off Galloway and the defense, leaving the Rattlers in the win column more often. However, can the offense survive without it’s leader in Crotty?

Galloway has only Jason LaShomb behind him in net so he will be relied on heavily again. Galloway is entering his fourth season as a pro, and he has been the starter for his entire career with Rochester, but they have never made the playoffs during his time with them.
