Goalies in the NLL Entry Draft

Last season, two rookie goaltenders made a huge difference; Tyler Carlson and Evan Kirk, both of the Minnesota Swarm. It’s very rare to see any goalie make an impact that young in the NLL.

Are there any rookie wonders ready to step in in 2013 for a team? Who are the top goalies to watch in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft?

Patrick Bayliss- Langley Thunder Jr A

Bayliss is a native of Vancouver and has been a goalie with the Junior A Langley Thunder. At 6’4 in net, Bayliss played 389 minutes during the regular season and played in five playoff games. He had a 9.43 regular season goals against average and a save percentage of 78%. He spent some time with the Jr A Lakers as well, where his best year was a 8.89 goals against in 2010.

Connor Danko- Peterborough Lakers Jr A

Danko has played in sixteen teams with the Jr A Lakers this season. He played over 800 minutes with a 10.07 goals against average in 2012. He went 8-4 on the season as the starting goalie.

Zack Higgins- Brooklin Redmen

Higgins was the starting goalie on the Davenport University lacrosse team this season. He had a 7.72 goals against average. Higgins was also on the roster of the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse. He did not see any action.

Carson Michaud- Port Coquitlam Jr A

Playing twenty one games with the Port Coquitlam Saints this season, Michaud also played in two playoff games. He had an 8.35 goals against average during the season with an 81% save percentage. He has been a member of the Saints since he was called up in 2008.

Craig Wende- Burlington Jr A

Formerly of the Jr A Kitchener-Waterloo Braves, Wende found himself with the Burlington Chiefs this season. He played 741 minutes where he posted a goals against average of 10.20.

Tyler Gelbe- London Jr B

Gelbe has played two seasons with the London Blue Devils. This season he saw over 1,000 minutes of action with the junior B team. He had a goals against average of 6.97 against the competition and a save percentage of 694%.

Jake Lazore- Awkwesane Jr B

Lazore is the last goaltender we look at today. He played 580 minutes with the Indians and posted a goals against average of 5.69 in eleven games played.
