How the Minnesota Swarm Built Their Draft

After last season, the Minnesota Swarm proved that the draft can be a great way to build a team. They brought in stars Jordan MacIntosh, Corbyn Tao, and Evan Kirk.

This season, they once again are trying to build their team through the draft. They find themselves with a boat load of draft picks, but how did they build this?

Second Overall Pick

The Swarm ended up with the second overall pick in the draft from a trade with the Buffalo Bandits. They acquired this second overall pick from the Bandits for the trade of goaltender Anthony Cosmo.

Third Overall Pick

After the Swarm traded for Shawn Williams of the Edmonton Rush, they sent him, Brendan Doran and their fifth overall pick to the Bandits for the third overall pick.

Fourth Overall Pick

The Swarm earned their fourth overall pick based off of end of the season standings.

Tenth Overall Pick

The Swarm got this pick from sending Kevin Buchanan to the Boston Blazers for Mat Giles and this draft pick.

Minnesota does not have a second round pick. They have the 24th overall pick in the third round, and then they have two fourth rounders, one fifth and one sixth.
