Joining the Rush: Q&A With Matthew Dinsdale

We went one on one with Matthew Dinsdale, recently traded to the Edmonton Rush.
Q: How does it feel to join the Rush?

A: I’m very excited. It will be nice to join a few guys I played with in Junior on the Adanacs. I have heard nothing but great things about Coach Keenan and his coaching staff. Edmonton is a young, big, athletic team who sits atop the western division and I am looking forward to meeting all the boys and getting started as a member of the Rush?

Q: Were you surprised to be traded?

A: Yes I was a bit surprised. I didn’t have any conversations with either the coaching staff or management about getting traded. I was told that they weren’t actively looking to trade me but an offer came up from Edmonton that they obviously thought was best for both parties involved. So yes a bit of a shock to see a few missed calls and texts from Mike Board the morning of trade deadline day but I’m excited for the opportunity moving forward.

Q: How do you feel about joining the Roughnecks?

A: The Roughneck Organization is truly first class. Throughout my time with the Roughnecks I always felt like we were treated as professional athletes should be. From the management and the coaches, down to the equipment manager and trainers I have nothing but good things to say. I have enjoyed my past three seasons with Calgary and felt like I have grown and learned a lot through the course of each successive year. Calgary will always be my first NLL team and in that regard they will remain special to me.

Q: Are you excited to join a first place team?

A: Edmonton has had a lot of success through recent regular seasons. They are a team who is really just starting to reach their prime. I am excited to join a team ready to take a run at the Champions Cup.
