NCAA Weekend Recap   #1 Duke   6 #2 Maryland 10   This was a third quarter game changer as Maryland scored three in the third and held Duke to none. After that, the Blue Devils seemed to lose all momentum. Maryland totaled 44 shots, 32 ground balls, 17 saves and won eight of 19 face offs. On the other side, Duke totaled 36 shots, 26 ground balls, 15 saves and won…

NCAA Preview: Orange Have Big Obstacles Continuing with Cavaliers

March 1, 2014

WHO: Syracuse @ Virginia WHERE: Charlottesville, VA WHEN: TODAY! Noon   SYRACUSE The Orange are coming off one of their most brutal losses in recent memory. I could not begin to describe my disappointment last week as a ‘Cuse fan. However, many games come down to referees and in-game moments. Maryland deserved the win as they have become one of the greatest lacrosse programs in the modern lax world. All…

NCAA Women’s Power Rankings

February 27, 2014

Week three in NCAA women’s lacrosse action was more of the same. Syracuse and North Carolina kept on winning, leading many to believe dethroning these teams from the top two spots may be a difficult task. The biggest drop in the rankings was by Duke, who last week was seated at the number three spot. We also saw Penn State drop out of the top 10, but who will take…

NCAA Week 3/4: Albany’s Second Heartbreak, Penn State(ment), Terps’ Blowout

February 25, 2014

The NCAA just closed on an interesting Week 3/4 in its 2014 season. Of the nine games I’m picking to cover this week, Saturday was mostly upsets while Sunday was home to four blowouts. SATURDAY Penn State 8 Notre Dame 7 This was such a close game all around, and I’m calling it an upset because Notre Dame has proven themselves as a strong program in past seasons. Shots were…

Otherwise, it was a good week for the ACC. We saw some impressive victories by some of the up-and-coming programs. If these February games are any indication, we might be in for a bedeviling season. 1 Duke (2-0)—Duke got a head start and won…
