Lakers Acquire Goaltender Matt Vinc

According to reports the Peterborough Lakers have traded for goaltender Matt Vinc (Rochester Knighthawks). In return, the Brampton Excelsiors receive Jimmy Purves (Toronto Rock), Pat Saunders (Philadelphia Wings) and two second round draft picks in 2015.

“We wanted to try to get the best goalie that we could to solidify one of the opportunity positions that we found and Matt Vinc was tops on the list,” says Lakers GM Joe Sullivan via other media. “So to be able to get him in the lineup solidifies not only our commitment to getting better but gives us what I would say is the best defence in Canada.”

Vinc led the Knighthawks in the NLL to the top seed in the eastern conference and they play the Buffalo Bandits in the playoffs this weekend. He spent six seasons with the Six Nations Chiefs and then one with the Excelsiors, but he chose to play with the WLA’s Victoria Shamrocks last season.

Meanwhile, the Oakville Rock have acquired Jason and Jeremy Noble from the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks along with defenseman Bill Hostrawser in exchange for Hayden Smith, Mike Woods and AJ Masson.

The Nobles were the first and second overall picks to the Kodiaks in the 2013 MSL draft and Jason was selected second overall to the Minnesota Swarm in the NLL. Jeremy is expected to go first overall in the 2014 NLL draft after he finishes his college career in Denver.
