Thunder are 4-4. Lakers are 3-3. The same players lead the stats boards. Tonight, the Lakers will be electric; it’s just a matter of weather it’s the good or deadly kind.
LANGLEY
Alex Turner and Athan Iannucci continue to lead the Thunder with 35 and 30 points respectively. After them, Brett Baron, Tyler Melnyk, Tom Johnson and Daniel McQuade are all in the teens with points.
Both Brodie MacDonald and Mike Lowe have each played this season, MacDonald much more than Lowe with MacDonlad leading the league with 420 minutes in net.
BURNABY
The Lakers are a very broad and balanced team when it comes to scoring. Dane Stevens and Casey Jackson both lead the team with 17 points on the season, and both have more assists than goals.
Jason and Scott Jones each come second, allotting 14 points each, Scott close to four times as many feeds. Tyler Digby, an NLL rookie this past season, also has 13 points thus far.
And after all of them, yet 15 more players on the roster have recorded at least one goal this season, the majority of them having numerous.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
It’s clear there are two opposing strategies heading into this faceoff: a numerously distributional offense versus a select-few-powerhouse-offense.
To be clear, the Lakers have a team that is intimidating because there is no one player to focus all your attention on. They are a lively team to watch that keep spectators on the edges of their seats not knowing who will be open and score next.
While the Thunder will be challenged defensively, their offense is no less threatening. Iannucci and Turner have been lighting up the cages this season, and both also have more feeds than goals themselves. The Laker defense may be used to communicating and switching, but can they keep up with individual stars all night?
