The Ohio Machine announced today the return of assistant coaches Bill Wolford for his third season with the Machine and Tom Mariano for his second season with the Machine. The Machine also announced the hiring of Dom Marzano who will join Wolford and Mariano as an assistant coach for the 2014 season.
“I am thrilled to have an impressive quality staff in place for next season,” said Head Coach Bear Davis. “We are in the process of redefining the roles of each position and want to make sure that we are covering all our bases that will help us be the best next year. The staff we have put together has a wide variety of strengths, which makes me very optimistic about being able to put together a championship-winning team!”
Mariano, who is currently head coach of Pace University’s Men’s Lacrosse team, hasmore than 20 years of coaching experience. Mariano spent the last 17 seasons as the men’s lacrosse head coach at Sacred Heart University, where he helped transition the team into a Division I program as part of the Colonial Athletic Conference and eventually the Northeast Conference. In 2012, Mariano was named Northeast Conference Coach of the Year and had four of his players named All-NEC and three players named to the Division I All-New England Senior Scholar Athlete Team.
Marzano is entering his second season as the head coach for Wilmington College in Ohio, where he was named the first-ever lacrosse coach for the college in 2011. Marzano is a Hilliard Davidson High School graduate and was a four-year starter at Wheeling Jesuit University under Head Coach Davis. Before coaching at Wilmington, Marzano was an assistant coach at Hilliard Davidson from 2008-2009 and Ohio Wesleyan University in 2011.
