Major League Lacrosse Looks to Unionize

In Lacrosse We Trust heard a few weeks ago about attempts from the MLL players to unionize, and today, it came to light with a report from Inside Lacrosse.

The Professional Lacrosse Players Association is in the process of trying to become the players union for Major League Lacrosse. They are already the union for the National Lacrosse League.

The potential union needs 30% of the players vote before they can go any further. The union withdrew their initial offer in late August in a meeting in Buffalo before deciding to get more than 30% of the league players to sign the petition.

According to the report from Inside Lacrosse, players want to know what’s going on in the league and have more insight and stress better communication.

Earlier this year, former MLL star Casey Powell voiced his displeasure about the business side of Major League Lacrosse on The Lacrosse Radio Network. Since then, we have spoken to many players who share the same thoughts.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available about a potential MLL player’s union.
