MCLA: Santa Barbara Bounces Back

Over the weekend we had a number of games, including a top 15 match- up between Cal Poly and UC- Santa Barbara. This past week was the first real weekend with a substantial number of games.

The Oregon Ducks played their D2 counterparts the Western Oregon Wolves on Wednesday. Both are the defending PNCLL Champions and National Tournament teams. The game was played in Eugene at the University of Oregon. The Wolves held on for the first quarter and that was about all they were able to accomplish. The Ducks look to be in great form and finished the game with a 18-6 win. The Ducks, ranked #8, will look to Simon Fraser on Wed. the 13th. This game for them is one of the biggest on their schedule this year, and it comes in the second game of the year. Western Oregon will look forward to Western Washington on the  23rd of February.

In the only top 20 match-up this week, Cal Poly played UC- Santa Barbara. The first game for Cal Poly, who is coming off of an impressive MCLA Championship run where they came in behind the Champion Colorado State. After taking the early lead at the end of the first Cal Poly fell apart in the last three quarters. The Gauchos were lead by Junior attack Johnny Morgan who had 5pts (4g, 1a). The Gauchos came off the bad end of an upset last weekend only to turn it around and upset #5 Cal Poly.

Looking ahead to this coming week we have both #1’s getting into regular season action, Colorado St. will play Northern Colorado and St. Thomas will go up against #8 Concordia in the first top 10 bout for the D2 level. We will also have the US Coast Guard going up against SCAD in a top 15 match.
