Amidst all the controversy with Boise State Lacrosse the day before game day, the Broncos took the field at home against the University of Utah Utes. The Utes came out firing and quickly took a 3-0 lead over the Broncos through the impressive transition play and faceoff play by Jake Berkelbach (18-24).
Boise State fought back to within two off of quick goals from John Carlson, Josh Davenport and Bryan Scott but the Utah squad answered with a two-goal run to end the half. In the second half Utah came out yet again firing and put two more goals on the board before Boise was able to answer off of a beautiful pass from Dillon Guth to Taylor Stover. This began a minor run for the Broncos as Adam Smith decided to go off and add another pair of goals to the tally.
Unfortunately for the Broncos, it was too little too late and Utah claimed the day with a 12-8 win.
For the Utah Squad, David Bicker, a sophomore out of Salt Lake, came up big for the Utes adding a hat trick to young Utah squad.
Also adding to the points was Dillon Tran who added two goals as well as two assist for the Utes. The Idaho Native Cody Cantrell received the respect of the hometown crowd by adding two more assists to the board as well.
The Bronco’s Adam Smith, a 2013 PNCLL Honorable Mention All-Conference Midfielder, helped the Broncos get on the board by bullying his way through several slides and burying it in the back of the net on several occasions. He ended the day with a pair of goals and two helpers as well.
