Dhane Smith is one of the top prospects in this draft, and likely a first round pick. He scored a career high 107 points with the Junior A Braves this season and had 302 points in his entire Junior A career.
He had a career high thirty eight goals on the year to go with sixty nine assists.
“My main expectation is to get drafted obviously, but my goal is to get drafted as high up as I possibly can.” said Smith. “I’m more excited then nervous at this point and I’m hoping come October 1st I hear my name called whether it be early on or late.”
How does Smith feel about being an NLL player? “Well, it’s been a dream of mine ever since I touched a stick at age three, I mean I’m pretty sure its every young kids dream to play in the NLL and getting the great opportunity to have a chance of getting there is a dream come true. If you would have asked me my first midget year I would have laughed. I just learned if you want something nothing can stop you.”
Smith is one of the top available players in the draft this season. He led all of Junior A in points scored. Smith is ready to be an NLL player. “People have told me to enjoy it and embrace it cause it only happens once.”
