Miller Brings Back Mann Cup as Wings Bring in New Goalies

Brandon Miller has been one of the most solid NLL goaltenders in the league in the past ten seasons. Now he brings a Mann Cup back home to find his MSL team mate Evan Kirk has joined him in Philadelphia.Miller has had a very interesting week. It started in game 5 of the Mann Cup when he and Kirk were ejected from the game for illegal equipment. That was when Colin Doyle stepped in and manned the net.

“I’ve always hated the equipment call, unless it’s an obvious non compliency to the rule.” he said. “Kirky, Vino and I are all wearing the exact same equipment, made in the same factory, with no extra add ons of any kind. During a game pads can flair out a little here and there, but in the end we are talking about 1/4 inch.

“It makes our game look so ridiculous and bush… It’s sad to think it took Colin Doyle playing goal to get any kind of real national media coverage when the lacrosse was world class!”
Despite the circumstances, Miller is still able to joke about Doyle coming in and saving the game for the Chiefs. “As for Doyler becoming a full time member of the goalie union, I’ll have to watch the tape, I was too nervous to watch, and stayed in the dressing room and paced the hallway. But I can say this… I owe him big time!”
After that came game 6. Right before, however, Miller learned his team mate Evan Kirk would be traded to his NLL team, the Philadelphia Wings.
“Evan is a excellent goalie, I’ve watched him and known him since he was probably 8 or 9, more importantly he is an amazing person, comes from a great family, a family I blessed to have spent a lot of time with and have built great friendships with so many of the Kirks.”
A few hours later, Miller took home his third Mann Cup of his career. “This is my 3rd Mann cup, and from past experience, I’m going to sit on this one for a while and really enjoy it.” said Miller. “Every championship team deals with it on the floor at some point, but few teams have had to deal with it so heavily off of it like we did. They don’t happen as often as you wish they did…they are all special, but so far, this one takes the cake!”
