Nik Bilic Shipped to Rush on Draft Day Trade

Nik Bilic had played with the Minnesota Swarm nearly his entire career after signing with them in 2011. Now he will be a member of the Edmonton Rush.Last night the Rush and Swarm pulled off a trade that sent the fourth overall pick (Cam Flint) to the Swarm for the fifth pick (Robert Church) along with righty defender Nik Bilic.

My time with the Awarm was such a great experience.” said Bilic. “It was the first NLL team I had the privilege to play for and it was amazing how much I learned in my time there”

Last season Bilic scored four points in 13 games and added 31 loose balls. He also racked up 32 penalty minutes. “ I can’t be more excited to be a party of another great young, energetic, and hard working team.” Bilic told us. “I’ve played with a few of the players I the team through summer lacrosse and cannot wait to meet the rest of the Rush family.

Like I said the are a great young team. I had the unfortunate year in Minnesota when we met a hot Rush team in the playoffs. I will end the story there”

Edmonton is pretty deep on their right side with Ryan Dilks, Brett Mydske, Kyle Rubisch and Jarret Toll, so it will be an interesting battle for who makes the opening day roster.

I was rather surprised when I got the news.” said Bilic of the trade. “I was at work and checked my phone to see the news online.” To replace him, the Swarm added righty defenders in the draft such as Reid Acton, Jordan Houtby, JJ Laforet and Nick Jonas.
